2024 Workshop Line-Up

We will be working over the next few months to pull together our 2024 workshop line-up.  If you are interested in conducting a workshop and would like to utilize our farm as your host site, please contact us via email.  There are many talented people with lots to share.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Workshop Series Goals:

  • Bring people together and build resilient community
  • Share practical and creative skills to live ecologically and cohesively with the earth
  • Highlight local talent while bringing people to the farm
  • Have attendees feeling empowered to take more action in their lives 

Most workshops will have a suggested donation amount. Community supporting Community. People with financial stability are encouraged to increase their donation to help to pay for others who cannot. 


Cooking Classes at Earth Haven Farm

Flour Tortilla Class – May 12th

Date:  May 12, 2024

Time: 11am - 2pm

Price: $70/ person (includes cost of materials).

Facilitators: Ashlea Fox

Ashlea Fox is a traditional skills enthusiast and home-maker. Currently Ashlea is a registered Holistic Nutritionist and believes we should all be mindful of the foods we put in our bodies. Two of the best ways to do this is to know where your food comes from and to cook and/or prepare it yourself. For the last ten years Ashlea has learned how to bake bread, can foods, make cheeses, roll pasta, prepare ferments and brew kombucha. 

Summary:  May 12th will be a flour tortilla class, which will be a 2-3 hour class depending on how many people sign up and how long it takes to roll out the tortillas. Participants will learn to make flour tortillas from scratch. Each participant can take home the tortillas that they make as well as a printed copy of the recipe.

Logistics: We ask that participants please bring a container to bring home your tortillas and a rolling pin!

Stinging Nettle - June 2nd 2024

Date:  June 2, 2024

Time: 10:00 am - 3:00 pm with an optional Potluck Lunch.

Price:  Sliding scale $60 to $90 per person. Additional donations welcome.

Blair is a certified permaculture teacher, Chartered herbalist, tree farmer at Goldenbough tree farm (Goldenbough Tree Farm.ca) and wild food enthusiast. 

Summary:  We live in a world of Medicine.  Often the plants that are considered the biggest pests are actually the most potent medicine. The goal of these herbal offerings is to get acquainted with the plant world around us.  In this workshop, we will spend time in the company of Stinging Nettle to observe the ways that it grows, and to look at what the plant tells us with its form.  Aric will lead a ceremony, as making an offering to a plant ally is an age-old tradition that is understood by the fauna of this land.   This will help us to create deeper connections with the land and the medicine that we make together.  We will gather herbal medicine and create a herbal remedy that can become a part of your home apothecary.  The second part of the day will be an in-depth discussion into the herbal constituents and actions of Stinging Nettle.  You will receive a monograph that you can use as a future resource and that, if you choose to join us for more sessions later on this year, will grow into a herbal reference.  The idea behind these sessions is to use herbs as a way of teaching about connection to the land, deepening relationships with plants, and growing in knowledge that can empower us to care for our own bodies. Kombucha Making Class – June 9th

Time: 1pm to 3pm

Wildculturing: Origins of Co-Creative Agriculture - June 23rd
