Food & You ~ The Choices You Make Matter

Many of the indigenous cultures around the world make claim that "Food is Medicine". How very true that is. Yet the modern 20th century diet is a far cry from healthy, let alone having any medicinal properties or values.

Research has proven time and time again that illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes, stroke, asthma, high blood pressure, gout, and yes even cancer can be avoided, and even cured through dietary changes and the avoidance of "processed" foods.

Processed foods of the 20th century have become nothing short of a chemical cocktail that is literally killing not just us humans, but our four legged friends, birds, fish, plants and all living matter on this planet.

It is time to wake up and start making conscious choices.

The first choice is to choose to eat healthy. The second choice is to become aware of where your food comes from, how it is processed, packaged and transported.

Buying fresh foods from local sources is the best way to ensure that you are putting food on your family table that is free from much of the factory chemical processing. Purchasing food from local sources is also harvested at its peak and therefore provides the best nutritional value.

Purchasing food that is grown organically is your next best choice in ensuring that your food is free of GMO's, chemicals, fertilizers, preservatives and that it has been picked with care and concern to ensure the best possible nutritional value.

Purchasing food from Certified Organic sources is your only guarantee that the food that you are purchasing is grown and inspected to meet true organic standards. Just because someone says they grow organically does not ensure that the products that are produced are fully and completely free of chemical contamination.

"Food is any substance consumed by living organisms, including liquid drinks. Food is the main source of energy and of nutrition for animals, and is usually of animal or plant origin. These are the substances that provide carbohydrates, lipids, and proteins as an energy source to organisms. It is anything which, when taken into the body, serves to nourish or build up the tissues or to supply body heat. The type of food you dream of or perhaps even eat will provide great insight into the type of emotional assistance required in waking life. What some call health, if purchased by perpetual anxiety about diet, isn't much better than tedious disease."
